POST GRADUATE PROGRAM IN CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT

We acknowledge with thanks receipt from you of the first / both the instalments of the fee and we take pleasure in welcoming you to XIME.

As already mentioned in our offer letter, this is an Institute which has built up a reputation for quality and sense of values and we expect you to contribute towards maintaining the same by hard work and dedication.

We are enclosing herewith the hostel rules and regulations as well as the initial payment details to be sent for admission to the hostel.

The total amount to be payable towards hostel admission is Rs.39,900/-. The payment has to be made latest by 20 th June 09. Payment must be by DD payable to 'XIME – Hostel A/c'. The break-up forms part of the rules.

We wish you a very rewarding one year at XIME and look forward to meeting you soon. The classes start on 29 June 2009.

Every year we conduct a one-week orientation programme for the incoming students of the 2-year PGDM in the Institute. Though not mandatory, we are welcoming you to join the Orientation Programme. This year the orientation programme is from 22 to 27 th June 2009. We feel this could be very useful for you. The mess charges during this period ( Jun 22 to 31) of Rs. 800/- can be paid directly to the College Office.

We are enclosing the ‘Undertaking by the hosteler’ which should be signed by you and the parent / guardian and will have to be submitted to the Administration Officer before taking the hostel admission. Please also fill the personal profile sheet and hand over to the Administration Officer when you come to join the Programme.

HOSTEL RULES & REGULATIONS
PGPCM BATCH 5 (2009 – 2010)

GENERAL

1.Admission to the XIME HOSTEL is not a right attached to admission to the Institute. It is solely given at the discretion of the Administration.

2.XIME Hostels are located within the campus itself. They have been built with the aim of providing decent accommodation and other allied facilities to the students so that;

a)Outstation students are saved from the trouble of finding safe and clean accommodation in the vicinity of the Institute.

b)Students need not waste time and energy in commuting to the Institute and back, occasionally even at very odd hours.

c)They can better utilize the Institute facilities such as the library, computer laboratory and Internet facility etc.

d)They can better participate in group discussions and other community activities without worrying about the problem of returning to their residences on time.

e)To sum up it facilitates better learning.

3.Hostel admission is granted only after the student has:

a)Read the rules and signed on the copy of the rules committing to follow strictly the Hostel Rules.

b)Deposited an amount of Rs.39,900/- with the Accounts Section and a receipt for the amount obtained.

c)Received an admission slip from the Hostel Warden/ Manager Administration.

4.Hostel admission as a rule is done on an yearly basis. For the PGPCM course hostel accommodation is not mandatory. A student who has initially opted to stay out may be given hostel accommodation later, if he so desires, only if vacancy is existing in the hostel. Such accommodation will be for the remainder of the year.

5.Students are expected to maintain proper discipline and decorum at the Hostel, as is expected at the Institute.

6.Violation of the Hostel rules will result in the expulsion of the inmate from the Hostel with one week’s notice. The decision of the Institute authorities on this will be final.

PAYMENT

7.The breakup of the initial payment to be made for admission to the Hostel for the year 2009- 10 is as under:-

(a)Rs.5,000/- Caution Deposit which is refundable
(b)Rs. 2,500/- towards Establishment charges for the year
(c)Rs.15,000/- towards rent for six months.
(d)Rs. 3,000/- towards water and electricity for six months.
(e)Rs. 14,400/- towards messing for six months (Only actuals will be charged.) This can also be increased depending on the food cost.

(Total Rs 39,900/-)

Hostel fees must be paid by DD by 20 June 2009 and admission taken. DD should be made in favour of ‘XIME Hostel A/c’.

8.Electricity and water charges and food charges are subject to revision as per cost increase/decrease.

CANTEEN

The Institute canteen is run by a contractor. Meals will be served against meal cards distributed in the beginning of the month by the Accounts Section/Administration.

The meal charges for all the three meals per day are Rs.80/- as of now.

HOSTEL TIMING AND GENERAL BEHAVIOUR AT THE HOSTEL

9.Inmates are required to be back in the Hostel latest by 9.00 pm every evening. The Hostel gate will be locked at 9.00 pm. On Saturdays, time is given upto 9.30 pm. Strict maintenance of reporting time is expected of all inmates.

10.If an inmate has to leave for home or visit a close relative or local guardian, it has to be with the prior permission of the Hostel Warden and an entry to that effect has to be made in the Hostel Register with the telephone number for contact, if need be.

11.Other than the parents or the Local guardian, no other visitor will be permitted to enter the Hostel. Others can meet with the hosteler at the Institute. Likewise, standing at the gate and talking to outsiders during late evening hours is also not permitted.

12.No guest will be allowed to stay in the Hostel. However guest room in the Executive Block can be made available for close relations on payment. The applicable rates are:

a)Parents of hostelers- Rs. 600/- per person per day.
b)For double occupancy Rs. 800/-


13.Inmates are expected to keep their rooms/space clean and tidy at all times. Only common area will be cleaned by the housekeeping staff.

14.Any sickness must be reported to the Warden immediately.

15.Playing of loud music or other form of disturbances to other inmates or neighborhood must be strictly avoided.

16.Strict silence must be maintained after 9.00 pm. Playing of T.V., Radio and music system is not permitted after 9.00 pm.

17.Any damage to the Hostel property will be realized from the inmate/s who caused such damage.

18.Whilst there is no objection to the use of cell phones in the hostel it should not cause disturbance or become a nuisance to other room mates and other hostelers.

19.Inmates must bring mattresses, pillows, pillow covers, sheets, blankets, towels and all other personal requirements.

20.Safe custody of money and other valuables is the responsibility of the inmate. The Administration will not be responsible for any theft or loss of valuables from the Hostel.

21.Consumption of alcohol and smoking in hostels are strictly prohibited. Anybody found indulging in this misconduct will be expelled from the PGPCM Programme.

22.BANK / POST OFFICE / RAILWAY BOOKING CENTER:

There is a branch of State Bank of India with ATM facilities in the Electronics City Phase I, just about a Kilometer away and another on Hosur Road, just 500 m away. In addition, there are also branches of other private banks such as HDFC, Syndicate Bank, ICICI and Axis Bank with ATM facility. Post office and railway booking counter are available within a kilometer of XIME campus. XIME is well connected to Railway Station / Bus Terminus by a/c and non-ac BMTC buses from the Electronic city BMTC Bus Depot.

23.MEDICAL FACILITIES

The nearest hospitals are Vimalalaya Hospital, Ramakrishna Hospital and Apollo Hospital. They are just 2 kms away from the campus. They have the basic facilities. Other reputed hospitals in the vicinity are St. John’s Hospital and Narayana Hridayalaya which are approximately 12 and 6 kms away, respectively.

24.VACATION OF THE HOSTEL

All admissions to the Hostel are for a maximum period of 12 months. All Hostelers must vacate the Hostel after the fourth term exams and handover the rooms in proper condition. Any damage to property/ fittings due to misuse will be recovered from the caution deposit.

25.Dhobi services are available. Present rate for washing is Rs. 5/- per piece and for pressing Rs.3/- per piece.


26. DRESS CODE

All the hostelers are expected to observe proper decorum and be decently dressed at all times.


27.FACILITIES PROVIDED

Rooms are on a triple sharing basis. Separate cot, study table with bookshelf and a lockable steel cupboard are provided. Items such as plastic buckets, coat-hangers, waste paper baskets etc also will be provided. Other facilities include water cooler, a pay phone and running hot water. When proceeding home in April, the items provided in each room should be accounted for.

RIGHTS RESERVED

28.The Institute reserves the right to close down the Hostel at any time after giving one month’s notice to the inmates.

29.The Institute also reserves the right to add, delete or amend any of the rules listed above for the proper functioning of the hostel and to enable maintenance of discipline, decorum and high quality learning atmosphere.

30.The Institute reserves the right to expel an inmate from the hostel for infraction of Rules.

Selection involves Personal Interviews which will be held at Bangalore and Chennai during the third week of May 2009 and first week of June 2009.

Payment of fees :

The fees of Rs. 1,20,000 is to be paid in three instalments of Rs 40,000 each at the time of admission, at the start of the second term and the third term respectively.

An additional Rs 7500/- will be charged for text books / course material and a refundable Rs 6000/- as caution deposit.

The monthly mess charges will be approximately Rs. 2500/-

Room rent in the hostel (incl. of Electricity and water) will be Rs. 3000/- per month.
